Day 9, Saturday, June 29 (Seattle) Family Vacation 2013

August 28, 2013 by admin 2 Comments

Saturday was the biggest day in Seattle with lots of sights and activities on the agenda. We started the day with the hotel’s breakfast buffet in the elegant Georgian Room. It was fantastic—maybe one of the nicest breakfast buffets I’ve seen. Everyone really enjoyed it.

We took off on foot and headed toward the Pike Place Market. I have been there many times, and Jackson and I had been there once when we went to Seattle together years ago, but BT and Anna had never been there. Because it was early in the morning, they got the full effect with all the fresh flowers, produce, etc.

We visited the famous gum wall and took some photos there.

We spent some time in the shops and eventually walked to the north end, across the street and down that hill that heads towards the aquarium and docks. On the way we looked stopped at _____ and looked around. I had been in that store a few times before and remembered that they had neat furniture and fun chotskis sp?.

We had made reservations for the Locks Tour with Argosy Harbor Tours.

The tour of the bay, then the locks, was fun and informative. It was a beautiful, sunny day (in fact, it was really hot after we left the bay and entered Lake Washington).

Seeing the way the locks work was cool.

The locks tour is a one-way event, so after debarking you get in one of their hot, stuffy buses and ride for 15 minutes back to the starting point on the bay. The tour took a few hours so we were hot, tired, and hungry. Walking back to the Fairmont we stopped and ate at Quodoba (sp?).

Skipped dinner because of the late lunch, so we ended up ordering room service late that night. Yum.
